General care and use information

Please keep in mind that your mattress will soften up a little so that the initial firmness you may be experiencing will disappear within a short period of time.

DO turn and or flip your mattress frequently. The resilient materials used in your mattress will over time conform to your body's individual contours; this is not a structural defect. To minimise any 'body impressions' and ensure that your mattress is 'broken in' evenly you must use the entire sleeping surface of the mattress.
DO use your mattress only on a strong slated or platform base (not to be used on a posture slat or sprung base etc)
DO carry your mattress flat or on its side - it is easier to handle and less likely to damage the mattress.
DO keep your bedding clean, we suggest the use of a mattress protector at all times.

DO NOT bend your mattress under any circumstances. If required you may flex rather than bend the mattress when going through doorways, etc. and try not to bend the corners when putting on fitted sheets.
DO NOT allow anyone to stand or jump on the mattress. It was not designed for that kind of intense weight concentration
DO NOT allow your mattress to get wet.

Innerspring Mattresses

You must both flip and rotate your mattress to equalise wear and body impressions, which naturally form on the mattress surface over time. Turn your mattress from end to end and in succession, upside down. This should be done once every week for the first month of use and once a month thereafter.

Do not bend the mattress! Such treatment may damage the innerspring unit.

Bellissimo Mattresses

Congratulations on the purchase of your Bellissimo mattress!

It is important to be aware that latex mattresses have a very different feel to an innerspring mattress. Makin Mattresses offer you the flexibility of a 30-day rebuild period with all Bellissimo mattresses sold.Simply contact your store of purchase if you are not totally satisfied with the feel of your mattress. As you are dealing with the manufacturer we can, on the premises (in most cases) re-manufacture your mattress to a different feel available within our product range or to an innerspring mattress of your choice. However, we do recommend that you take the full 30 days to allow your body to adjust to the feel of the latex. In all cases an exchange fee will apply as the mattress must be rebuilt to comply with OH&S health regulations.

All Bellissimo mattresses require rotation from end to end and flipping from top to bottom once a week for the first three months of use and once a month thereafter.

You must utilise the entire surface of your mattress; this is very important.

Body impressions are a natural occurrence but to create even wear slightly shift your sleeping area over towards the middle of your mattress every now and then. For example, have a quick nap or read a book while laying in the middle, especially as the latex is wearing in / softening up. Otherwise body impressions may appear as the whole mattress surface hasn't settled / worn at the same rate and it is far more difficult to rectify the longer it is left.

Latex Pillows

Latex pillows may be HAND WASHED ONLY.

We recommend that this be done every six months especially after summer. Washing may be done by placing the pillows into a tub of luke warm water with a few drops of wool wash, giving a good rinse, then dried in the shade. Never place pillows in direct sunlight.

Removable Pillow Top

General care may be taken by cleaning the surface with a vacuum and spot cleaning any stains with a damp cloth. The pillow top may be aired out if neccessary, and rotated on a regular basis to ensure even wear.
